Shep Houston, licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, received her Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Swarthmore College. As principal of Shep Houston, AIA, she has designed and managed more than 300 projects over the past 30 years. Her work has won awards from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, The National Association of Homebuilders, and has been included in numerous community and historic house tours.
Her focus is custom residential design, including both new construction, and sympathetic renovations and additions to older houses. She works closely with each family and the Project Architect to develop the initial conceptual design concepts and remains deeply involved in the development, detailing, and construction of the project to completion.
Her dedication to excellence in architectural design and ethics has led her to serve on the Boards of American Institute of Architects, the Pennsylvania State Architect’s Licensure Board, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She is currently serving on the Historic Architectural Review Board for Lower Merion Township.
