Shep Houston, licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, received her Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Swarthmore College. As principal of Shep Houston, AIA, she has designed and managed more than 300 projects over the past 25 years. Her work has won awards from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, The National Association of Homebuilders, and has been included in Historic House Tours.
Her current focus is custom residential design, including new construction, and sympathetic renovations and additions to older homes. She works closely with each family to ensure that the new work dovetails smoothly with their lifestyle and preferences. Shep’s dedication to excellence in architectural design and ethics has led her to serve on the Boards of American Institute of Architects, the Pennsylvania State Architect’s Licensure Board, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She is currently serving on the Historic Architectural Review Board for Lower Merion Township.
