A new home for some old cars with library above
Exton, PA
This new building was designed to house and maintain two Rolls Royce automobiles on the ground level, with a library for an extensive collection of books on the second floor. Deep overhangs, large dormers, and a roofed stair characterize this garage, which was inspired by architecture from the period of the antique cars. The front covered entrance allows the doors of the garage to remain open in the rain, when the cars are being serviced. In addition to storing books, the second floor library provides a space for the owner to sort her collection and read in a comfortable, light-filled setting, with long views over the countryside.
