Our goal is to create beautifully designed architecture, reflective of our clients’ unique lifestyles and preferences. While all of our projects are distinct, common characteristics may be found: open, light-filled spaces, carefully-detailed, with views between rooms and to the outdoors.
Our work at Shep Houston, AIA, does not adhere to any particular style. We design new homes as well as alterations and additions. Additions and renovations to older and historic homes are inspired by existing architecture. We have designed additions to many notable homes originally designed by well-respected architects, such as Walter Durham, William Price, Stanford White, and Oscar Stonorov.
The design of every project is a fresh opportunity, and it evolves from an assimilation of existing conditions, client lifestyles, and project goals. We approach each job, large or small, with the same attention to detail. Regardless of size, style, or budget, there is always a need for efficient use of space and an innovative way of dealing with existing conditions. Knowing how spaces we live in can affect our outlook and well-being, we are aware that good architecture has the potential to enrich lives.
